As mixologist for The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Mike Bell develops drinks for every social occasion. In recognition of Tax Day, Bell created The Money Maker.
“On Tax Day, you are either celebrating a refund or hoping for better results next year, but in either case you can always use a little relief,” says Bell.
The recipe for the cocktail follows, cheers!
The Money Maker
1 ¼ oz Pear Vodka
½ oz Midori
½ fresh squeezed lemon
Combine Pear Vodka, Midori, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime twist around a lemon wedge.
This year tax day falls on my birthday, so it’s a double celebration. Can I make that drink a double?
Kelly:
Thanks for sharing. I don’t drink, but could probably use one of these tonight.
BTW, did you have any family/friends in NC who were affected by the storms? We’re still without power at home, probably will be through tomorrow, but no property damage fortunately.
Mike, fortunately my friends and family are all okay – some friends with some flooding but no injuries (thank goodness). We did see some of the damage out towards Sanford. It was terrible.
And I bet tax preparers around the country would also like to indulge in a tasty drink at the conclusion of the day! Although I don’t know how I feel about the mixing of pear and Midori. I’ll have to see if the local bar tending can whip one up for a taste test!
Power came back on about 6:30 PM last night. Still a large portion of the area close by without. The tornado passed just to our west – the Stony Brook mobile home park in Raleigh where three children were killed is about four miles west of us.
