Foxy Brown must miss being in the headlines.
Since 1997, the controversial rap artist has been in and out of court and/or police custody for various legal issues. In 1997, she was ordered to serve a suspended sentence and perform community service for spitting on hotel workers and subsequently missing a related court appearance. Since then, she’s been removed from a concert for using obscene language; arrested for driving without a license; involved in a violent altercation at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica; pleaded not guilty to assault charges in Manhattan (twice); charged with leaving New York state without permission during probation; accused of other probation violations; and placed into solitary confinement due to physical altercations while in prison.
Brown was released from prison in the spring of 2008 and has been relatively quiet since then… Until now. The Detroit News has recently reported that the IRS has filed a total of six liens for not paying taxes from 2003 to 2006. She allegedly owes a $641,558 in federal taxes – according to reports, the total with penalties and interest is closer to $1 million. Brown’s publicist has reportedly said he no longer works for her and her business manager did not return a phone call to the Detroit News seeking comment.
Brown was born Inga Fung Marchand in 1978. She’s best know for her albums, Ill Na Na (1996), Chyna Doll (1999), and Broken Silence (2001). Album sales since Broken Silence never really lived up to the hype of the initial releases.
Despite the tax liens, Brown doesn’t seem to be shying away from the designer lifestyle. If you believe her recent twitter entries, she’s still sporting Diadoras and Louis Vuitton shoes…
Hmm… Does all of this news mean another album is on the way for the Big Bad Mamma?
Ummm,
“Since then, she’s been removed from a concert for using obscene language”
Didn’t the people who booked the concert listen to the CD?
