Did you get up this morning in a panic, trying to figure out how you’re going to make it to the post office to mail your taxes? Relax, it’s not Tax Day.
Yeah, it’s usually Tax Day today – but not this year. This year, Tax Day fell on Emancipation Day, which just so happens to be a holiday in D.C. Since it’s a holiday in our nation’s capital, Tax Day gets moved ahead a business day. April 16 and 17 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, respectively, which bumps Tax Day all the way to April 18.
So go back to bed. You can panic on Monday.
You know that on Monday those same folks will wake up in the same panic they woke up in today. Ok, not necessarily, but if you’ve waited this long you’re probably going to keep on procrastinating. It is nice to have the extra time to file, but I’m sure CPAS and accountants agree that it would be better to get this over with sooner rather than later!
