Despite published rumors to the contrary, and as posted here on taxgirl.com, the prosecution has not reached a deal in the Wesley Snipes tax case: there is no settlement.

According to the Tampa Tribune, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill, who is prosecuting Snipes and two co-defendants advised that the story which first broke in Variety, was not true. “We have no idea where that came from,” he said. Variety, however, stands by its story.

In what appears to be a corroboration of O’Neill’s statement, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that efforts to return Snipes to the U.S. were ongoing.
