The men who believed in this document and laid the foundation for this nation to be an entity paid a dear price for what is written here. They truly did mutually pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. It is one thing to have this document read in schools and many would like to have done, but there is something more than just having it read to be required. It needs to be understand and put into the hearts of our nation's citizens. We are at a turning point in our history for our present government is little by little pressing on our freedoms. The more we ask our government to do for us instead of us doing for ourselves, the more our government is going to tell us what to do. With or without our consent we will be pressed to please those who we ask to do for us. National healthcare, more and more government intervention into our personal and private live. How far will we let this go until we have to declare we will no longer take this infringement. We may not be there yet, but our nation is moving day by day in that direction. IS THIS THE "CHANGE" AMERICA WANTED?

Too bad this isn't required reading in every elementary school, high school, college, and business. We too often forget the principles our country was founded on.

Inspiring document that is the foundation of our prosperity. They did an excellent job of balancing things though we probably need to take a look at where we are compared to what they intended.

keep up the good posts.

I wish, looking back over my children's early lives, I had made it a tradition to read the Declaration of Independence to them. It can still be a tradition for my grandchildren. We live in freedom because of many documents. Along with the Bible, this should be a very important document to each of us.
Thanks Kelly for printing it. The local paper also printed it as their 4th of July editorial. Read it folks. Where would we be without it?
