According to CNN, 68% of those polled immediately after the speech had a
“very positive” reaction to the speech. With respect to Obama’s economic plan, 82% indicated support for Obama’s economic plan and the stimulus package. Analysts say that these numbers are similar to those garnered by Clinton and Bush after each president’s first speech.
