Philadelphia tax “amnesty” to end soon
If you hope to qualify for the Philadelphia tax amnesty program for delinquent real estate taxes, time is running out…
Oops, I used the "a" word. City Solicitor Romulo L. Diaz wants to make it clear that this is not an "amnesty" program. Only it really is.
The program, touted as a Conditional Forgiveness program is effective through May 1, 2006. To qualify, you must have income at or below 250% of the federal poverty level (for a family of four, that is a combined income of
$48,375 or less annually) and you must own and occupy your home. The deal is this: if you pay the principal due (as a lump sum, or as part of a satisfactory installment agreement), court costs and related fees, the City will forgive interest, penalties and other charges from the account.
If you believe that you quality, you must act quickly. Call Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP at (215) 790-1117 for more information on the program or to schedule an appointment.
