Murphy Denied Cert at Supreme Court

To no one’s surprise (except Murphy’s counsel), the Supreme Court denied cert in Murphy v. IRS, 493 F.3d 170 (D.C. Cir. 7/3/07).
Counsel for Ms. Murphy has indicated that the process has been political – you can read the press release here.

The D.C. Circuit has rejected Marrita Murphy’s petition for rehearing en banc with respect to her tax matter. The initial ruling in the case shocked the tax community but was subsequently overturned and became the center of controversy as the lawyer for Ms. Murphy (David Colapinto) visited a tax blog or two to comment.
