presidential quotes

Wrapping up my series of presidential tax quotes (which was great fun to do), here’s my final quote for you to guess the speaker:

#5: I am a tariff man, standing on a tariff platform.

Just two more quotes on my list of presidential quotes…

#4: Taxes, after all, are dues that we pay for the privileges of membership in an organized society.

Guesses as to who said this?

So it’s not exactly President’s Day, but I have a few more quotes up my sleeve.

Guess which president said

#3: Let me tell you my thoughts about tax relief. When your economy is kind of ooching along, it’s important to let people have more of their own money.

Earlier this morning (or late last night, depending on your point of view), I spent a few hours tooling through some presidential quotes to match up with our business channel blogs. You can read the results here.

All of that said, I thought it would be fun to modify that a bit for taxgirl.com. So in honor of President’s Day, I’m going to toss out some presidential quotes. Try and guess who said which quote (all were uttered by presidents).

#1: To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

So who said it? Guesses?
