(Update: The contest is now closed. I have the winners! They are: BrynMawr Girl, csom97, Davis C. Burroughs, IV, David Moore and Scott Coyle. Thanks to all for playing!)
Tax season officially opens tomorrow (*squee!*). To celebrate, I’ll be rolling out a number of giveaways (who doesn’t want free stuff?) as well as answering your “ask the taxgirl” questions all week. I’ll also be posting tips about choosing a tax professional, getting your taxes done for free (there’s that word again) and making the most of your available deductions and credits. And of course, I’ll be letting you know all of the latest and greatest news from the Internal Revenue Service and the tax world as it becomes available.
For those of you who aren’t regular visitors to the blog, this means that I’ll be posting a little more frequently than usual. You can stay up to date by subscribing to my posts (details below) or just checking back in from time to time. I hope you’ll join in on the conversation, too!
To get started, I’m giving away copies of my book on taxes and parenting – plus some coffee beans to keep you going through tax season. It’s easy to play along. Just answer this question:
HOW EARLY DO YOU FILE YOUR RETURN DURING TAX SEASON?
Here are the rules because as you know, I’m a lawyer and lawyers like rules:
- Entries must be posted in the comments section for this blog post in the space below by 11:59 p.m. EST on January 29, 2013.
- While I love my twitter followers and my Facebook fans, responses on Twitter or Facebook will not be included for purposes of the contest. Ditto for emails. Comments have to show at this post below.
- Don’t panic if your comment doesn’t show immediately. If it goes to moderation because, for example, you’re new here, the time stamp on your comment is what counts.
- One entry per person, please.
- Offensive comments or comments that otherwise violate the comment policy (you can read my detailed one here) will be deleted and will not be considered valid for purposes of the contest. No offensive language, no trash talk, no spam. I have standards, you know.
- Pingbacks and other links will be disregarded for purposes of the giveaway.
- I have to be able to contact you. I won’t publish your email address but I do need contact information for the winning entry.
- Due to shipping considerations, only United States addresses, please. Sorry, Canada, eh?
- I respect your privacy and I will not send you anything unrelated to your entry in this contest.
