		<description>Thanks for writing about the bill. I work for the Auto Alliance in DC, and we&#039;re following it very closely ourselves.

We certainly support the goal of lower emissions and more efficient vehicles, but the bill as it stands is much too harsh. The 50+ mpg floor poses a serious threat to light trucks -- which of course aren&#039;t as light as cars.

If you&#039;re interested in the bill, please swing by our blog and check out our case for the amendment. It&#039;s still tough, but it&#039;s not going to put anyone out of business.</description>
