		<description>Thanks for writing about the bill. I work for the Auto Alliance in DC, and we're following it very closely ourselves.

We certainly support the goal of lower emissions and more efficient vehicles, but the bill as it stands is much too harsh. The 50+ mpg floor poses a serious threat to light trucks -- which of course aren't as light as cars.

If you're interested in the bill, please swing by our blog and check out our case for the amendment. It's still tough, but it's not going to put anyone out of business.</description>
