Who Gets the Gas Face?

Have you ever heard of the “gas face”? Tisa, over at Talk Stock Trading, refers to a gas face as “a somewhat stressed look of displeasure induced by the pumping of expensive gas.”

Yeah, we’ve all seen it.

Since there’s been some interesting discussion on taxgirl.com about the gas tax (or gas tax holiday), I was particularly struck by Tisa’s question about who is to blame for the “gas face.”

What do you think? Who is most responsible? The Bush administration? Big Oil? Congress? Car manufacturers?

Pop over and let Tisa know: who gets the “gas face”?

THE HOLE IN THE GROUND BELONGES TO WHO EVER, IT IS LEASED TO A BIG OIL CO. THEY SELL THE OIL ON THE OPEN MARKET WHERE THE COMITIES TRADERS BUY AND SELL BASED ON WHAT EVER LIGHTS THEIR WICK THEN THE OIL CO. BUY IT BACK (FROM THEIR OWN TRADER) PAY TO SHIP HERE REFINE IT SELL TO TRADERS WHO SELL IT AND SO ON TILL MUSHROOMS LIKE US BUY IT TO USE. PS THEY GET MORE GAS FROM MID.EAST THAN OUR CRUDE…..

Nobody is to blame. It is called: THE MARKET.

I agree the market is the reason. We can cut down on our driving, but there will still be a large industrial demand for oil in China and India. That will keep the price of a barrel plenty high.
