Google/Feedburner/thorn in my side swears that everything is working fine now. However, the feed count still continues to drop.
So, can I ask you a favor? If you normally subscribe to taxgirl via RSS, please make sure that you’re feeding to http://www.taxgirl.com/feed – you can also click on the little icon to the right. If you normally subscribe to taxgirl via email, make sure that you’re getting emails. If you’ve somehow been bumped off, click on the envelope to the right to re-subscribe.
*sigh* Maybe that’s all.
And now, I’ll return you to your normal taxgirl programming…
I just switched my feeds too. They say the drop is normal (and temporary) and should come back up. We shall just wait and see.
I know they said it would be temporary but it’s out of control bad. I actually made the switch about a week ago and immediately lost @ 10% of my subscribers. I figured I’d wait and see. Over the weekend, I lost another 75%.
Even worse, I used to redirect my feed to b5media when I was a part of their Biz Channel. When I moved in September, I killed the feed. Google has now somehow mysteriously re-activated the feed so that some new subscribers are being redirected to the wrong feed. Since I had originally opted for the 30 day “redirect” feed option (after which the feed was supposed to be killed), I can’t delete it. It’s a mess. And of course, there’s no real help available now that Google owns Feedburner – they are clearly using Feedburner not as a real feed option but as a platform to sell Google Ad Sense. 🙁
Oy. I am seeing about a 25% decrease on my feed right now. Haven’t seen something as dramatic as 75%, but who knows, it might get there. All we can do is wait and see. Yeah, this surely isn’t good timing for you that soon after switching from b5media.
I was using your b5media feed at http://feeds.b5media.com/b5media/Taxgirl
It’s been working fine (I’m just a couple of days behind in the posts.) for the past several months.
I’ve just subscribed to feedburner one now too.
Kelvin,
Mine keep dropping. Le sigh. And today, it says that I had “0” reach on yesterday, which means that not one person clicked on the content from the feed – totally not true (I know cause I did it to make sure it was working). It’s so frustrating because it’s literally several thousand subscriptions just gone. And Google/Feedburner offers not one whit of support.
If anyone is aware of a better service, please let me know!
Andy,
Glad to hear that you made the switch. Hopefully, you won’t get dropped (fingers crossed). Thanks for bearing with me while I muddle through this nonsense.
