The IRS Doesn’t Care What You Think.

Okay, maybe they do care (maybe a little), but they certainly aren’t going to pay you for your opinion.

The IRS is warning about a new phishing scam involving an email to taxpayers purporting to issue a tax credit in the amount of $80 in exchange for completing an online survey.

It’s not going to happen. The IRS is not going to give you money for a survey. The IRS does not send unsolicited e-mail ever. And the IRS will not ask you for PIN numbers, passwords or similar secret access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts.

If you are in receipt of such garbage, don’t open it. It’s one of many scams using the name of the IRS. Forward it to phishing@irs.gov.
