“…in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. They say death and taxes are inevitable.” – Benjamin Franklin
But not necessarily at the same time. Just ask Earl Phillips (no relation) of Kentucky.
Last month, Phillips dialed up Kentucky’s Department of Revenue to ask a question about his tax return. Natalie Brown, who works for the Department called Phillips back and noticed that something didn’t sound right. Phillips was breathing heavy. She asked if he was okay and Phillips said that he didn’t know what was wrong. As his breathing got worse, Brown quickly verified Phillips’ address and then called 9-1-1. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and took Phillips to the hospital. It turns out that Phillips was having a heart attack. Brown saved Phillips’ life that day.
I know, I know. It’s very cool these days to complain about public employees. But isn’t it better to hear the good stuff?
