In case you haven’t heard the news, Bloglines is no longer. They will officially shut down their services as of October 1, 2010.
A number of you subscribe to my blog via Bloglines. I don’t want to see you miss a single drop of tax blog goodness so be sure to switch your feed over now. Bloglines has some instructions on their homepage about making the switch.
If you don’t want to head over to Bloglines, here are my instructions for subscribing to the blog. Keep in mind that I’m a tax attorney, not a computer geek, so there’s no fancy online lingo here. This is the best I can do:
- RSS Feed. See that little orange icon over in the sidebar? If you click on the words “taxgirl feed“, it will take you to a page that allows you to subscribe to the feed using any number of readers. My personal favorites are Pageflakes and Yahoo but I also use Google Reader occasionally (I think it’s a law or something that you have to have it *somewhere* on your list of URLs). But there’s lots of good ones out there so I’m sure you’ll find one that you like.
- Email. If you don’t want to add the blog via RSS, you can subscribe via email. Just click on the words “Read taxgirl via email” over in the sidebar. That will take you to a Google Feedburner page that says “Email subscription request.” To make sure that you absolutely want to receive the email (and why wouldn’t you?), you’ll get a confirmation email. You’ll have to confirm your subscription by clicking on a link in that email. If you don’t confirm, you won’t receive the emails (not my rule, it’s Google’s).
Both options are free.
Free and easy. How great is that? And yeah, make all the jokes about that you want. I can’t. My mom might be reading.
