An Inconvenient Tax Giveaway

Kelly Phillips ErbApril 15, 2011

(Editor’s note: We have our winners! Congrats to Jeremy Nabors and Mary Sublette. I’ll be contacting you both.)

Yes, I know the post title sounds awkward. But it’s also kind of funny, all things considered, and it’s accurate, so I’m keeping it. You see, a couple of years ago, I had the privilege of appearing in a tax documentary along such heavyweights as Steve Forbes, Noam Chumsky and Mike Huckabee. The movie, An Inconvenient Tax, is being released as a DVD on April 15, 2011.

To celebrate this auspicious occasion (insert chuckling here), I’m doing a giveaway. It’s easy to enter to win. In the comments below, tell me what movie role you wish you been able to play… Did you want to be Elle Wood in Legally Blonde? Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind? Tracy Lord in The Philadelphia Story?

I’ll choose two winners randomly (using a number generator) out of all of the qualifying entries.

Here are some more rules because, as you know, I’m a lawyer and I like rules:

  • Entries must be posted in the comments section on the blog below by 11:59p.m. EST on April 18, 2011. Yep, that’s also the deadline for filing your taxes, so it should be easy to remember. Don’t panic if your comment doesn’t show immediately. If it goes to moderation because, for example, you’re new here, the time stamp on your comment is what counts.
  • I love my Twitter followers and my Facebook friends (muah!) but for this particular giveaway, tweets and Facebook comments will not be counted.
  • Due to shipping considerations, only those residents of the US are eligible to win.
  • You can enter as many times as you like but you must leave a different movie role each time you comment.
  • Offensive comments – or comments that otherwise violate my comment policy – will be deleted and will not be considered valid for purposes of the contest. Keep your porn movie comments to yourself. There are some things that really are better left unsaid.
  • Pingbacks and other links will be disregarded for purposes of the contest.
  • You must include your full name and your email address with your entry. I won’t publish your email address, but I do need contact information for the winning entry. I respect your privacy, and I will not send you anything unrelated to your entry in this contest.
  • By entering the contest, you agree that I may post any part or all of your submission including your name as a part of the contest announcements or promotions, with the exception of your email address.

So, easy, right?

For more entertainment, you can watch the trailer for my movie here:

(And for the sake of clarity, I wasn’t paid for my appearance and I don’t receive royalties or anything from the film.)
