Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often. – the late, great Johnny Carson
We’re expecting 21 people over today for Thanksgiving dinner. Eight of those 21 are children and of them, all but one are age 8 and under. Despite the chaos and inevitable breaking of something (or let’s face it, many things), I’m looking forward to it. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year because it brings family together.
I’m thankful for quite a bit this year: my family and my friends (many of whom are like family to me); my readers (thanks for reading this year!); my office; coffee; good health; a warm house; bright kids; and let’s face it, Jayson Werth and Cy Young award winner Roy Halladay.
I hope you take the time today to reflect on the things that are important to you. Let me know:
What are you most thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving to you too. There is much to be thankful for this year. I am thankful for the love in my life, my family and pets (all of them), the joys of parenting, every experience I have ever had that has molded me, friends of course, amazing colleagues, people who rescue animals, people who adopt children, men and women who serve our country, sleep whenever I can grab it, oh, and let me not forget Costa Rican coffee, Johnny Depp/Captain Jack Sparrow, dark chocolate and absynth (in any order of preference).
As one of the expected 21 folks at Kelly’s it was a grand time. Yes the kids had the run of the place and they made the most it. The meal was great. My daughter spent the day in the kitchen and it was very evident. The selections were numerous. The flavors rich. As Marie, Ray Barone’s mother says, It’s the recipe, but from the heart that makes it so good. Kelly’s Thanksgiving dinner was from the heart, as well as choice ingredients, that made a great meal. And the dessert selection was fantastic.
I am thankful for my family, and especially for Kelly to have such a heart for Thanksgiving for her family and friends.
Happy Thanksgiving to the Erb family in Philadelphia and for a great meal.
