Word out of the House today was that the controversial tax deal is going to pass with no significant changes. They just aren’t going to do it this afternoon.
Last night, the House Rules Committee agreed to a vote that would separately address the estate tax provisions desired by House leadership. The idea was to vote in those provisions and send the measure back to the Senate. But procedurally, the Democrats weren’t quite sure that was going to fly. So they pulled the vote on the deal altogether, calling it a “procedural delay.”
There’s a possibility that the deal will go back to a vote tonight. Or it might happen tomorrow. But it will happen. Keep checking in.
From the health care debacle to the attempt to SE tax only small S-corps (read: too small to fight back), it’s time for these clowns to go. And waiting for that is, in fact, the hardest part.
