And they’ve prepared a special “memo” addressing reasons why you shouldn’t… On March 16, 2006, the IRS published IRS Notice 2006-31 describing 26 frivolous arguments that taxpayers should avoid when filing their returns. Basically, these arguments include your run of the mill “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is” schemes such as…
How many times have you thought of an idea that could make the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) better – only you didn’t know how to make your voice heard? Now, you have an opportunity. There are vacancies on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP) in a number of states.
There is no such thing as free money. Let’s just go ahead and get that out of the way first thing. Our Treasury does not have a pot of money just sitting around waiting for you to scoop it up (we’re nearly bankrupt, remember?) And no matter what anybody tells you otherwise, tax credits, refunds…
President-elect Donald Trump has said he won’t pocket his presidential salary. How much is he giving up? And could you do the same and save on taxes?
Taxpayer asks: Thanks for taking the time to consider my question. I travel extensively for my job. When I travel, I have an expense account for meals and hotels. My company recently moved to a “no alcohol” policy on expense accounts. We cannot put any alcohol on our expense accounts and we cannot apply for…
The hits keep coming. Just one day after Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner John Koskinen warned employees that budget cuts would lead to delayed refunds, lags in correspondences and potential furloughs, Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson released her 2014 annual report to Congress. Olson’s report didn’t offer any relief for taxpayers, instead expressing concern that “taxpayers…

my husbands ss# ends in 1-20 but mine ends in 80- 100 so when would we get our rebate check b/c we file together
rose,
the order is determined by the SS number of the primary taxpayer (the one whose name appears first).
I HAVE NOT YET BEEN “ECONOMICALLY STIMULATED” MY SOCIAL ENDS IN 08 AND I RECEIVED MY REFUND FOR 2007 DIRECT DEPOSITED INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT ON 2/28/07.
WHERE IS MY STIMULATION? TODAY IS 5/1/08. MONEY IS NOT IN MY ACCOUNT TODAY. IF THE IRS IS GOING TO DIRECT DEPOSIT 00 THRU 20 NO LATER THAN MAY 2ND THEN THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE 12 MORE DIGITS TO GO AT THE LAST MINUTE.
SORRY TYPO 2007 REFUND WAS DEPOSITED ON 2/28/2008
I too didn’t get economically stimuated this morning. MY SSN ends in 03. You can go on the IRS.gov website and they tell you about a ‘delay’.
My SS# ends in 17. According to the Federal Governemnt, i should have received my rebate check last Friday, may 2, 2008.
It is now Monday, May 5, and i just checked my
account at the local branch of my bank.
Still no e-deposit (I had my Fed. Tax refund promptly deposited by H&R Block)
I know about 15 people, personally, that should have received their check
on the same day as me. None of them have.
I don’t know a SINGLE PERSON who has received their check via e-deposit.
I’ve already called my Senator’s and Congressmen and left irate messages with their staff.
I encourage EVERYBODY to do the same.
It’s time for American’s to get up, take action and
start a NON-VIOLENT PEACEFUL REVOLUTION.
If the politicians get the message they will accomodate our demands. If they don’t, they’ll be out of work come November.
fingers,
I do think it’s a good idea to let your Congressional officials know if you’re not happy. If they don’t hear it from the people, how will they know?
Here’s another thought:
Why haven’t I heard anything about this on the news?
Or public radio?
Or, even on the IRS website?
We need to speak out now!
fingers
Fingers,
Was your refund deposited by the IRS or HR Block? If it was the latter then this is classed as a commercial bank and doesn’t fall into the direct deposit from the IRS category. You will most likely receive a check in the mail on the 19th May…
well the irs site says you have to allow time for the direct deposit payment. do the “where’s my refund” and see the “happy” message about allowing two weeks more to receive payment. wonder when it will be admitted on the newsreels. i am about sick of grinning faces talking about how all of this money will help. we still don’t have it. mine was in the may 9th time line to be received.
