Free Aid Is Just A Click Away

Kelly Phillips ErbFebruary 19, 2009May 6, 2020

In response to a few of my posts where readers expressed concern about the cost of legal services, one of the kind folks on twitter* directed me to LawHelp.org, a web page that links to a series of legal information websites that are maintained by the legal aid and pro bono programs in each state.

The official word on it is below:

LawHelp.org is an online resource that helps low and moderate-income people find free legal aid programs in their
communities, answers to questions about their legal rights, court information, links to social service agencies, and more. This resource was built and is maintained in partnership with hundreds of legal aid, pro bono and court-based programs across the country.

In addition to the services many of you were concerned about (like divorce and bankruptcy law), the site also points you in the direction of free tax help.

So, if you’ve been avoiding seeking out help because you think you can’t afford it, click on over. It’s important to have access to good legal counsel, regardless of your level of income.

(* Yeah, you can find all kinds of information on twitter. If you’re on twitter, follow me. If you’re not, why not?)

Thank you so much for this post! Especially now in this economy legal services are the last thing a household needs to pay for. My friend was going through a legal issue a while back and she is still dealing with all the payments and fees to this day!

This may be a shameless plug, but when you see a great movie you want to share it with people you know, I feel the same about this. We found this great service for legal service you may want to check it out http://www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/dgillespie67. We have been using it for over 4 years and it has saved us tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, and has helped us out in many legal binds. We are not a criminals, but over the past 4 years we have received a couple of tickets, had a run in with a major furniture store (in which they got us over $1,000 back), needed advice about many things, and we have always received sound legal advice that has made us better off than we where before.
