Hello. You answered a question asking whether private school tuition was deductible. Our daughter is enrolled in full-day kindergarten at a public school in which we pay tuition. Any luck with deducting this? I mean, they are double-dipping in our wallets with this one. Thanks!

I say that the same analysis applies.
It’s clear that programs for children below the level of kindergarten are deductible if they otherwise qualify as child care. For the upper grades, meaning kindergarten and above, expenses for before- or after-school care at a public school may be deductible so long as the costs qualify, just as those for private school.
