Got Blood? Get Gas.

I was wrong about the Red Cross – well, a little bit. I previously reported that they provide no financial incentives for donating blood but that’s not exactly correct these days.

This week, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Kimberly Fulton of Swedesboro, NJ, has won a year’s supply of gasoline in the first of two drawings this summer from the Pennsylvania-NJ region Red Cross. The gas, worth $3500, is an incentive to get people to donate between July 23 and September 16, when donations are traditionally low. There is one drawing left. If you are at least 17 years old, healthy and weight at least 110 pounds, consider donating.
