April 15. It’s that red letter day on the calendar that many taxpayers have come to hate: time to pay up to Uncle Sam. As painful as may be to write that check, it’s not all bad. Across the country, retailers and restaurants are offering taxpayers a break to make the day a little brighter. Here’s a partial list of companies offering you a break on Tax Day:
MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream and Treatery® has announced an “E-cone-omic” Relief Package for its customers this Tax Day, April 15. Participating U.S. treateries will give away free slices of its new, one-of-a-kind MaggieMia’s™ Ice Cream Pizza from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ice Cream Pizzas are a new creation locally available at MaggieMoo’s Treateries. They can be customized with customers’ favorite flavor of ice cream and will be offered in three different preparations: Chocolate Lover’s, Supreme and Cheese. Available while supplies last and limit one offer per guest.
Cinnabon wants to put some frosting on your Tax Day. They’re giving away “Tax Day Bites” – free bite-sized cupcakes from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 15. Available only while supplies last in participating mall locations (no airports or travel plazas).
McCormick and Schmicks is hoping to help you relax at the end of a long day with drink and dinner specials in the bar priced at just $10.40. You’ll also get a $10.40 “Tax Relief Certificate” for a future visit. And it doesn’t stop there… on April 16, McCormicks is giving tax preparers some kudos with their own “Tax Preparer Appreciation Day.” Professional tax preparers will receive a free dessert with the purchase of an entree, as well as a $10.40 “Tax Relief Certificate” good on a subsequent visit – just show your business card.
As part of their “Taxes Suck, Tacos Don’t” promotion, Taco Del Mar is offering a free taco on Tax Day. You’ll need a coupon in order to get your freebie: visit the web site and request a free “taco 1099.”
P.F. Chang’s will take 15% off of food purchases for dine-in or takeout meals (no drinks or happy hour specials) on Tax Day. Their special, “with no forms to fill out, no papers to sign” is good only on Tax Day.
IHOP wants to help you maximize your tax deductions with their “Kids Eat Free” dinner promotion. The promotion is good for the entire month of April from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The free meal is valid for kids 12 and under on IHOP’s “Just for Kids” menu items with one the purchase of one adult dinner. The offer is available dine-in only and is not valid with any other discounts, coupons or specials.
It’s worth noting that I can’t possibly check out every deal in person, so I have to rely on the details provided by companies offering Tax Day promotions. If you’re concerned about availability or have specific questions, I suggest that you contact the respective company directly. You can usually find contact numbers on each company’s web site.
I know that the list isn’t complete. I expect that new promotions will be added until the last minute – keep checking back for updates. If you’re aware of any offers or promotions in honor of Tax Day, please share in the comments below.
