Sing A Song Of Sixpence, A Pocket Full Of Cash

As previously reported, the IRS will be watching Hollywood’s award season this year almost as much as we are… The Grammys are no different.

The 2006 Grammy gift bag was valued at $68,434 and included:

  • a two-week lease of a Cadillac
  • complimentary LASIK Eye Surgery
  • Chadsworth Haig bathrobes
  • Solstice sunglasses
  • Escada ski jackets
  • Casio digital cameras

Assuming a high-end tax bracket, the tax bill for such goodies works out to be approximately $20,000 – per star!

The gift bag for 2007 is likely to be similarly chock full of swag, despite the added publicity.  No wonder the IRS was watching, and not just to see whether Sharon Osborne shows up with Kid Rock…
