Taxgirl

Because paying taxes is painful… but reading about them shouldn’t be.

Extended.

Kelly Phillips ErbApril 15, 2008

I am officially extended. No, my hair is the same (are you kidding me? I saw Britney’s extensions at the MTV Awards and have chosen to stay far, far away from fake hair). But I have filed extensions and paid a little cash (just a little) to the feds and to PA.

This was my first experience filing for extension online without software and I have to say, not bad.

I used pay1040.com for the federal and paid via debit card. There was a 2.49% transaction fee which was annoying but I realize it’s a private service and they have to make money somehow.

For PA, you can file online through the Department of Revenue. There is no fee but my only option for extensions seemed to be EFT. I don’t mind the lack of credit card option – I don’t own one (oh yeah) – but paying by debit card is convenient and wasn’t an option. Also, since hubby’s name is listed as the primary taxpayer, I had to fish out his checking account information. But really no gripes.

It’s nice to be done. Sort of. We’ll still have our real taxes to file and pay. The plan is actually to get to it this week – we have just a few more details to wrap up. And of course, since I have been online with you guys, I haven’t gotten to it…

I hope that your tax day was without incident! Happy Tax Day!

At the MTV awards? Are you kidding me? Perhaps you were distracted by the awful outfit…
