Think Pink This Mother’s Day

Kelly Phillips ErbMay 2, 2010May 19, 2020

If you were to make a list of things about me and things about my mom, you’d notice a lot of differences. She lives in the south and likes rodeos, westerns on AMC, and Christmas sweaters. Me? I live up north and I like baseball games, quirky British comedies and I wear a lot of suitably urban black – I don’t own a single Christmas sweater. Not one.

But the one thing that we definitely have in common? The determination to make a difference.

My mom has always instilled in me the notion that just “being” isn’t an option. She has always encouraged me to do more, to give back. And every year at Mother’s Day, I try to do her proud… I run in the Komen Race for the Cure to raise money for breast cancer awareness. It’s something that I feel pretty passionately about, having lost my own grandmother (my mom’s mom) to breast cancer years ago.

So if you’ll indulge me for a moment, I’d like to encourage you to make a difference with me. You can donate (or sign up to run with me if you want) here. Donations are tax-deductible (wahoo!) and they’ll make me (and my mom) awfully happy.
