12 Days of Charitable Giving: Misericordia

Kelly Phillips ErbDecember 15, 2010

The nominations are in for the 12 Days of Charitable Giving 2010. Our third of twelve charities to be featured this year is Misericordia, Heart of Mercy which offers a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged.

Here’s what our nominee had to say:

I would like to nominate Misericordia, Heart of Mercy for a spot in your charity listing. This not-for-profit strives to encourage and support the most vulnerable among us, people with mental and physical disabilities. I encourage you to visit the website, Misericordia.com, to learn more. The director, Sister Rosemary Connelly is an incredible spirit, always wanting to do more. She just began an on-site resource for those who live at home to have access to the facilities on Misericordia’s campus.

It would be great to spread the word about this fabulous institution. One can buy some delicious baked goods from the bakery which is staffed by residents. If in the Chicagoland area, your readers could visit and have a tasty meal at the cafe, again staffed by residents.

Thanks for the consideration and thanks for your blog. I visit every day!
