How Much Is Your Rebate Check? IRS Shows You.

Kelly Phillips ErbMarch 18, 2008

“How much am I getting?” That seems to be a popular question as it relates to rebate checks. If you want to know in advance, you can check out the “Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator” on the IRS web site.

How does it work? You must answer a series of questions on the web which the IRS estimates will take about 5-10 minutes. You’ll need your 2007 federal form 1040, federal form 1040EZ, or federal form 1040A handy – remember that you won’t qualify for the rebate unless and until you’ve filed those returns. You will not qualify for the rebate at all if you file a federal form 1040NR, federal form 1040NR-EZ, federal form 1040PR or federal form 1040SS. For more information on what might disqualify you from receiving a rebate, check out my prior post on who won’t get a rebate.

My son is 18 so I will not get a rebate for a dependant. However he filed with enough to get one on his own but he is still a dependant so he still won’t get one. What’s up with that?

Yes, My SS no: ends in 52, my check should have been deposit on Fri May 9th. It wasn’t and I am wondering if something could be wrong? I filed single with head of house hold and have two kids. I really do need that money. Carla

we only got $600 for the stimuls, direct deposited a month ago – and yes, spent.
and when i did the calculator THEN – it said 600.

now i do it? same info – and it says 1200.
and i study and study the reasons for a lower amount, etc etc
and I come up with the 1200 too!

so what do we do when the check is truly WRONG?

I am a working 66 year old grandmother. I claimed my 2 year old granddaughter, 17 year old granddaughter , both of whom I support, myself and my 38 year old daughter who is unable to work. I received notice I would get $250.00, shocking
