I respect your privacy. I hate spam. And I hate spammers. I would never spam you. Unfortunately, occasionally, spammers spoof my address.
Keep this in mind: I don’t sell Viagra. I wouldn’t know how to buy Canadian meds on the internet if my life depended on it. I don’t care about your sex life. I have no p0rn tapes to sell. And I definitely don’t have free time to sit around thinking about chatting with anyone. So if you receive spam that purportedly comes from Kelly Phillips Erb, taxgirl, or any variation thereof, I am really sorry. But it’s not me.
Since this is the internet, that means data and privacy can be complicated. Here’s what you need to know about data and privacy on the site:
My website address is https://www.taxgirl.com.
Comments
When you leave a comment on the site, the site collects the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection (I use Akismet to protect against spam). If you leave a comment on the site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year, but the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on the website (for example, for purposes of posting a job), the personal information you provide in your user profile will be stored. All users can see, edit, or delete personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). You can read my comment policy here.
Gravatar
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Social Media and Apps
Apps and plug-ins that allow you to share links from this site may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content, including tracking your interaction with the content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. I encourage you to read the privacy policies associated with those sites, like Twitter and Facebook, for more information, including what details those sites track and retain.
Embeds and Third-Parties
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
