As with many families around the country, my kids are starting school tomorrow (I know that many others have already started). Over the past few days, my house has been a whirlwind of new schedules, uniforms, book bags and school supplies.
It’s generally bittersweet for me as a mom. On the one hand, I’m secretly (okay, now maybe not so secretly) cheering the return to a somewhat normal routine and a morning that doesn’t involve children reading Harry Potter out loud to me. On the other hand, I’ll miss the oddly relaxing rhythms of summer – though not rinsing sand out of everything that I own.
This week, though, we’re putting away the boogie boards and the rash guards in favor of freshly sharpened pencils and shiny new shoes. It’s all about back to school – and that means on the blog, too. Throughout the week, I’m going to be blogging about school uniforms (including band and cheerleading), 529 plans, private school tuition, tax credits for education and college loan interest, among other things. If you have a topic that you want to make sure that I cover – or a question – be sure to ping me, either on twitter, Facebook or via email.
If you don’t have school aged kids, please don’t assume that this week isn’t for you. I have a few other tricks up my sleeve including some tax policy posts.
Oh – and did I mention the giveaways? This year, I have some amazing giveaways – from coffee makers to shoes to computer accessories. You won’t want to miss it.
So say goodbye to summer… and hello to a great new back to school season!
