It’s shaping up to be busy today – which is a good thing. Busy means (I hope) that people are voting.
I’d love to hear how things are going at the polls! You can email me your updates (election@taxgirl.com) or post them in the comments below. I’ll be posting updates as I hear them on this page (bookmark it) throughout the day.
Speaking of polls and voting, I’ll be posting some polls – just for fun – on the site as the day progresses. You can also stop by Facebook to share your stories and vote in other polls there… Maybe some giveaways to follow!
5:30 p.m. With a few hours left to spare, enthusiasm remains high. Victoria posted this via Facebook:

Got gas in my car? Check.
Chick-fil-a #1 with lemonade-light-ice? Check?

5:22 p.m. Romney makes a surprise stop in Pittsburgh. Guess PA is back in the mix? (Story here)
5:20 p.m. Via twitter: @JohnnyJet: CNN’s James Carville says if Romney wins PA game over. On the flip side if Obama wins FL & VA. #Vote #Election2012
4:26 p.m. From Michael via Facebook: Voted in my battleground state of Ohio; hope it counts
4:08 p.m. A Philadelphia court judge ordered poll workers to cover up a mural of President Barack Obama that was inside a polling place at Ben Franklin Elementary School. (Full story here)
2:50 p.m. Satya reports: Went to my poll in Gaithersburg MD, about 1:00, maybe 8 folks waiting, out about 1:15, about 24 inline, all mixed races. Official all looked haggard, not sweet at all. The line was mixed also, cheerful energy prevailed. Lots of posters outside the school, a few handing out their preferences. Very civil, not a sign of IED, no gunshots or intimidating folks about, Hooah! (smiling broadly).
2:43 p.m. Voted in Northwest Philly, 21st Ward. No lines, steady traffic in and out. And they did not ask for my ID.
11:56 a.m. I’ve heard some complaints about lines so far but nothing too out of the ordinary. You?

10:48a.m. Peter from WI reports: Good morning- polls opened at 7:00 AM CST- I was there at 7:25. Ward 3 (west hill) had a line of 50+ people. Highly unusual (I haven’t missed an election here from the time we moved to Chippewa in 2001 this is the first time I’ve ever seen this long a line for that ward) Ward 2 (NE corner) was running smoothly- I was #56.
10:31 a.m. If you don’t know where to vote, Google has a great feature to help. Type “polling place locator” in the Google search box. It will ask you for your address. After you enter your address, it will give you the polling place location, together with a map. It will also advise on state voting requirements. Excellent resource!
7:15 a.m. Suzanne voted in Northwest Philly, Ward 37. Reported long lines, one voter machine broken.
