Shortly after his conviction on tax evasion charges, Wesley Snipes declared that he would appeal on the grounds that the sentence was unreasonable. Snipes got his answer today. A federal court disagreed with his assessment, virtually guaranteeing that the actor will do time.
Two years ago, Snipes was found guilty of failing to file tax returns from 1999 to 2004; the conviction means that he will serve up to three years in federal prison. Though he admitted that he knew that not paying his taxes “sounded too good to be true,” he was acquitted of related federal tax fraud and conspiracy charges.
This won’t be the last you hear about this, trust me. If I had to guess, Snipes will make an announcement of some sort about his plans for the future.
I know little about taxes, but I believe it’s illegal to not file. guess he did not know that rule.
