Richard Hatch, the original Survivor winner, is currently awaiting sentencing, scheduled for April 25, for tax evasion charges. As previously blogged, Hatch was convicted in January of multiple charges relating to income tax evasion stemming from failing to report his Survivor winnings and other income to the IRS.
Immediately after the verdict, Hatch was taken into custody because U.S. District Court Judge Ernest Torres felt that he was a flight risk.
The maximum sentencing could be 13 years in prison and a $600,000 fine. Judge Torres, however, has indicated that a much lighter sentence is likely. Stay tuned.
