Finally.
The IRS has a feature available on its web site where you can check the status of your rebate. Visit “Where’s My Stimulus Payment?” and have on hand your legal name, filing status, Social Security number and number of exemptions shown on your 2007 return. You must have filed your tax return at least six weeks prior in order to get an update.
If your information is not available (mine wasn’t), you’ll receive a message telling you to check the Payment Schedule.
Hopefully, this will put some of your questions to rest. I’d love to hear feedback from those of you who have used the site!

JoAnn …..ours showed up in our bank account Thursday am. I was certainly hoping so, but I am already worrying the shape everyone will be in come tax time. I doubt the economy will be anything but worse. I had read on some websites that this rebate will not affect our 2008 refund. I thought this was strange since irs said when you receive your stimulus letter telling you it had been sent to keep the letter for 2008 tax filing. I now read on H&R Block website this rebate will certainly be deducted from your 2008 refund amount. The only way you will be better off is if your rebate is somehow more than your refund you would have been entitled to. You will not be required to pay the difference in the amount. So we won’t be looking forward to that hefty refund come tax time. I think everyone will be even worse off then than now. Good luck on your rebate coming Friday JoAnn!!

Thanks for getting back to me. Good to hear that you already got yours ! I was hoping today but I’ll be checking after midnight and see if it is in our account. I agree with you , Debi, about the economy. Things just keep getting worse ! These checks will be a help for everyone, but after they are spent, nothing really will have changed. Still going to have debt, etc… Well, it’s really nice chatting with you ! I will let you know if we get our refund in the morning. Have a nice night !
I too am in the sencond round of payments 21-75 I have been checking the IRS site all this week and it is still saying my information is not available. I don’t feel so alone when I’m hearing that others are having this same problem. That last two digits of your SS# is a crock of s@&t.
there are people in the first group still looking for their payments. Those in the second group don’t get you hopes up, to only be disappointed.

Anyone know why if we filed through H & R Block and had our fees taken out of our refund, why we get a paper check even though we direct deposited our refund? It took me 2 weeks to figure this one out. According to the first irs site(before they added stuff) we were to recieve ours in direct deposit. Now they are saying a paper check. What gives?….

The same thing happened to me except I went through turbotax. It sucks cause my ss end in 10 and now I have to wait forever in a day to get my refund. I was really looking forward to getting that money last week to. But from what I’ve heard its because a third party deposites your check into your account (its kinda like a loan) so the IRS doesnt have your bank info. But again, thats just what I’ve heard so I dont know if its true or not. All I know is a check would sure be nice right about now
It just keeps getting weirder fo us. My numb ends in 45 and wife’s is 62. I checked my ssn a week ago and get the message nothing has been processed. We check the wife’s a day later and we were supposed to receive on the 9th. Well today is the 9th and nothing in the bank. Also the IRS dropped one of my children as a qualifying child so either my 4 year old or my 7 year old didn’t get the $300 added to our stim package since they said we only own 1 qualifying child LOL. Just letting you folks know it does get weirder and don’t expect ot get it even on the date you were originally supposed to get it.
Yea, we sure could use it like TODAY! LOL! Our gas prices here are $3.87 gal….and we are feeling it!!!! Ours ends in 01, so we were so sure it would be there last week!!!
Maybe they shouldn’t have told us we were to get this check! I’m thinking a lot of people have questions that are going unanswered! And WHY put up a “Where’s my rebate” thing, when it only has one answer?? Just surprise me next time!!!
exactly! maybe we shouldnt have gotten our hopes up but with the gas prices and prices in general sky rocketing its a little hard not to. Just another let down to add to the books I guess
I was able to see my rebate info. on the IRS website today and we are getting a paper check. According to the site it will be sent to us on May 15 and our ss# 15.

If I were you I would call them (we did) the number is 1-800-829-1040. Press 2 and then 3. You will hear music and eventually an IRS rep. will pick up. You may be on hold for awhile though.

Ok so I called and the lady (very nice) said that I will be getting a check in the mail because I used turbo tax and because of that they go by turbo taxes number instead of my last two digits. She said that the check will be in the mail no later than the 23rd of May.
OOOOOK….The guy we spoke to told us our check would be in the mail May 16. according to our ss#. When I checked the site it told me May 15 (pretty close to what the rep. said). Have not heard anything about a Turbo Tax number. Anyone heard of this?

I CALLED THE HELP DESK AT THE IRS. THEY SAID THAT THE ” WHERE’S MY STIMULUS CHECK” LINK ON THEIR WEBSITE WAS NOT WORKING. Wow. How did you guys get a live person? The recording gave me the same nonsense as the website. I am supposed to receive my rebate today but my sister hasn’t received her’s and she had the May 2 date. I have direct deposit and I filed in Feb. so I have no clue what is going on. I blame the Gov. for making such a big deal out of these rebates and then not coming through!

If you used H&R Block or Turbotax and had your fees deducted from your refund, your stimulus will be mailed. The reason why is because they have to outsource to a 3rd party to have the charges taken out. IE Santa Barbara bank thing with Turbo Tax. All the info i’ve found out says I was first supposed to have mine Deposited on the 2nd…But then changed to the 9th. Now i find out mine will be mailed on the 14th. So the dates are just general info based on the last numbers of your social. Not actual info based on you specifically.
I Was Just wondering if anyone has actually has received a paper check?
So I checked the website and it says that I am supposed to get a check mailed to me for the amount of $910 but I did the little calculation thing on the website and that tells me I should get $1200. I’m confused! I am a single parent of 2 (really 3 but I’m nice and let the ex claim a child) and I sure in the heck dont make a lot of money so I dont understand why my refund would be reduced. I dont owe any back taxes or anything……
This is interesting…we are #90. Checked at 11:10, wasn’t under husband’s. It was under mine. Info was there. We’re getting ours on Friday, 16th – DD. Checked site again at 11:50. “Specific info is now unavailable.” Does their website seem to have problems at times?
We revieved our rebeate dd 0n the 9th we paid bills, bought grocerys. not sure if this will help the encomy. our payment was reduce by 400.00 dollars almost we do not make much either and had have 4 kids
I did my taxes early and had them direct deposited, This was done in jan, After not recieving my direct deposit on the 9th I decided to call them and was told it will be mailed paper check, But they could not give me Any other info, So I go back to the worthless site and get a crappy : we are sorry we have no info message.

You’re gonna love this. I have been using the IRS tool every day for about a week. Plus we are suposed to get a mailing via snail mail before we get the check. Well the IRS says no information available and I never received a notice but I did get the rebate on time. I went to the IRS page after receiving the rebate and it still says no info! Don’t depend on that tool or on a notice. Check with your bank!

Something else interesting, I have been using the tool wrong!!!! It says enter total exemptions not dependents. When the page was created I swear it said depedents. You must enter all claimed. I was just putting in 2 for my kids but should have been putting 4 for all of us. When I did 4 it worked. Good luck!
We got a letter from the IRS on the 10th explaning our total of the stimulus payment. It then says “You can expect your payment by 5/16/08.” So much for expecting it! Got nothing else from them.
Well, we recieved our paper check in the mail today. It was for the amount we were given on the calculator as well as the amount they gave us on our mailout. I guess a few days late isn’t all that bad. Hope everyone gets theirs soon! Good luck! Gonna pay some bills now!

website of course had no info for me,but the schedule said i was to get mine on may16.still havent.i was reading the times picayune(new orleans,la)news paper and there was a tiny article stating that 15,000 peoples rebate checks were deposited into the wrong peoples accounts.so the people who recieved deposits matching someone elses social security numbers are supposed to call the irs and report it.i presume that may be causing a big hold up.
I was suppose to receive my rebate check direct deposit on the 16th of May. I did not receive it, the last two of my social is 80 and I can’t puull up any info on the website and when I cvall the hotline number is says that the IRS is experiencing too many calls and can not except mine and automatically disconnects me. What do you do next? I suppose just wait.

Yes, last two digits 15. We got ours on Monday May 19, 2008. We as well went through Turbo Tax. and was scheduled to receive ours through the mail on th 23rd.

When I checked the “where’s my stimulus” on May 13th it was showing that our check would be mail May 15th. It did not show anything before the 13th though (I would check it every day). We received it May 19th.
I got a letter about my stimulus payment letting me know that I should receive my check by the 23rd. But it says that I am only getting 910 and I just dont understand why. Yes we did April. Iam married with four children we do not make that much either ours was redeuced by almost 400.00 dollars. With the gas and cost of food we need it.

I know they need to do something to help us! It is bad. people are leaving there homes. I show on news this morning the cost of food has risen 6% since this time last year.
well! Its the 23rd and Memorial Day weekend, sure hope I get that check in the mail today. Bills need to be paid, food needs to be bought and gas needs to be put in the car

Gas here in Utah hasnt made it that high…YET its like $3.89! I remember when I first started driving gas was only like 97 cents, paying a $1.20 was expensive. Boy what I would give to go back to those days!!
It was only 3.69 on Wednesday but by Friday it was 3.99 we live in indiana I just wonder if it because of the holiday?
Probably. but now with the rate of gas nobody is going to even want to go anywhere this summer for vacations. I could imagine what the price tag would be to fill our boat.

That pretty much sums that up!! I’ve heard that by next year gas prices are going to be up to $7 a gallon. If thats the case then nobody is going to want to drive at all and all those car dealerships are going to go out of business. This is just NOT good
Gas in Seattle is $4.28. The news interviewed the gas clerk and he said that by the summer gas will be $6/gal. Nobody can get second jobs or even pay raises anymore. Here, everything seems to be at a standstill, just waiting for the next drastic thing to happen.

My last two are 10 and my mothers are 12. We both recieved letters early last week stating we would recieve our checks via snail mail by 5/23. No checks yet. In reading various blogs I have come to the conclusion that no one in the same range (10-19) have recieved thier checks yet. Chances are they just sent them out Friday and they will come this week…I HOPE ATLEAST!!

I checked the “Where’s my stimulus payment” website and it said my check is scheduled to be issued on May 23rd. When I called the rebate hotline – it indicated my check will be mailed on May 23rd. I am planning to go home during lunch today to check my mail. My last two digits are 23. Has anyone received their check with a May 23rd issue date?
I went home during lunch and my check was in the mailbox. The check was mailed out Friday, May 23, 2008 (Per the IRS Website) and I received my check today – Tuesday, May 27, 2008. As I stated in my previous post – My last two digits are 23.
Well to follow up on my earlier weirdness post. I called the IRS since it shows that our money was direct deposited. It only showed on my wife’s social. I call the IRS and they said that is incorrect we would be mailed a check since we took our fees out of the return (which we didn’t) so now we are getting a check (I think) by June 16th. Well except for not getting the check I have had about as much weirdness on this than i wnated too. Why is it siuch a mess from the last time they did this. The last time it went like clockwork.
Well, I am about to head home…please keep your fingers crossed for me! The website says that my check was to be “issued” on 5/23 (I’m assuming that’s via snail mail) so…I’ll let you guys know tomorrow!

Yeah um I got that notice in the mail on the 19th saying that I should get the check by the 16th? Yup so then I go to the status checker and that told me that it had been direct deposited on the 16th? Yeah, no, it is not in there. So I will end with saying my last 2 digits are 31. Please soak this in and help!

I did my return and my mom’s at the end of March and I mailed them and still nothing. I am just worried that they didn’t get them. For all I know they got lost in the mail. We both chose direct deposit and I check the IRS tool and nothing comes up. Does it even work? I can’t get through to the IRS so what are you supposed to do?
