With A Side Of Sushi?

Kelly Phillips ErbOctober 24, 2007

After a long week (and trust me, it was long – and it’s only Wednesday), I’ve decided to take a break from tax news (but only a short break) and do something fun… Tax haiku!

Vote for your favorite – or make up your own.

—

1, Audits

IRS audit
Not fun, not cheap, not for the weak
Call an attorney.

—

2, Returns

Taxes due again?
Where are the good deductions?
Phased out – too much dough.

—

3, AMT

AMT is due
only for the rich, they claim.
Then why do I owe?

—

Which is your favorite: 1, 2 or 3?

Or write your own! Remember the structure is 5-7-5. Haiku away!

    Find all my receipts,
Spend some time with tax software.
    Hope I’m not paying.

    I love haiku.

    Kelly-

I also like #3 best. I have heard it uttered by many a client.

By the way, you give bad advice in #1 – you should never call a lawyer unless the sheriff is at the door with a warrant for your arrest.

As for Winnie’s haiku offering in the comments section – she would have a better chance of not paying if she by-passed the tax software and went to a tax professional.

Here is my entry, based on what just happenned (I finally finished the GD extensions and a client shows up with a 2007 return to be done):

    Extensions are done.
Now it is time for a rest.
    Wait, a new return!

    Thanks guys.
    Here’s another offering:

    Should I file jointly?
    The marriage penalty stinks.
    Cheaper to divorce.

Enjoyed these, Kelly. I often find, when I write something whimsical on my blogs, I get more comments than with the serious stuff. Guess everyone needs something light once in awhile.
