Ask The Taxgirl: Rebate Order

Kelly Phillips ErbApril 1, 2008December 4, 2019

Taxpayer asks:

In may the refunds will be going out according to the last two digits of the SS#. If you filed jointly who SS# do they go by and by direct deposit do they mean your weekly paycheck or your income tax rebate? Thanks for your time.

Taxgirl says:

The rebates will be processed according to the Social Security number of the primary filer – the person whose name appears first on the tax return. In most cases, that’s the primary wage earner. You can see the order for checks as announced by the IRS here.

Regarding the direct deposit, if you file your tax return with direct deposit, the rebate check will also be deposited into your bank account. If you file your tax return with your refund to be mailed to you, your rebate will also be mailed to you. For more on direct deposit and rebates, check out my prior post on the subject.

Make sense?

How do we know if we are getting the rebate check? Does everyone get a check?

Me and my husband have not got our direct deposit that we should have received May 2nd. My husbands last two digits are 18 and no $ 1,800 yet, we are still waiting.

My husband and I haven’t received our direct deposit check and his ss ends in 09. Should we be worried? We did file direct deposit.
Even though I am a stay at home mom, will I qualify for the $600?

@Tiff My Wife Did well I did too but under her name lol. It was direct deposit to bank account. So you might want to check your bank acc.

@Cin You should qualify if you paid taxes and did the tax return “i think”
