Richard Hatch has lost his final challenge: the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear his appeal on tax evasion charges. Hatch, the first ever winner of “Survivor”, where he garnered the (unflattering) moniker “Fat Naked Guy” was convicted in 2006 on tax evasion charges. He is currently serving a four year sentence in federal prison.
Hatch’s appeal had been previously denied by a federal appeals court and was rejected by the Supreme Court without comment. The basis of Hatch’s appeal was that he had been prohibited from raising allegations of cheating on the set of “Survivor” – he claims that the network agreed to pay his taxes for him in exchange for his silence (don’t even get me started on what a bad argument that is, including the resulting tax consequences).
Of course, Hatch also was convicted of evading taxes on money he earned as co-host of a Boston radio show and proceeds from a rental property… No word on how he planned to explain his way out of those.
