How is this legal — for one state to do this. A company based in California and also doing business in Illinois, perhaps other states, is now billing my insurance company for the tax on an innoculation I must receive monthly. The insurance company is passing the tax on to me and adding it to my copay.
Why is this legal in only one state in the union? No tax is levied when other prescriptions are received through local pharmacies. As a senior citizen on a limited income, being assessed (another) $13.60 monthly under this “scam” is making me irate.
Washington state started taxing 2 years ago…
Trying to figure out why…. Started when my insurer started to not or partially cover things. Changes every 6 months what my co-pay will be also.
Illinois– 1%
