“Just Tax” Parody Meant To Encourage The GOP

Kelly Phillips ErbJuly 21, 2009May 17, 2020

In more music news, CNN is reporting that this week at a GOP conference meeting, Republicans were shown the following clip of a video parody:

The video, created by Peter Cowman, a recent University of Washington grad, replaces the words in the Lady Gaga hit “Just Dance” – the refrain has been changed to “Just Tax.”

Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA) showed the video in an effort to encourage his colleagues “to get young people involved using new media,” noting that his district is home to a cluster of technology companies.

Reichert’s colleague, Mike Pence (R-IN) admitted: “that very few members were familiar with the original Lady Gaga song.” I’m shocked!

And yes, my dad is scratching his head at this one. Dad, Lady Gaga is techno – or as we like to say at home, “post-1812.”

This video is not engaging…it falls flat and is quite boring. The effects on the vocals are flat out awful. Something tells me that this is probably not the best example for the Republicans to hang their hats on when encouraging the youth to use new media to get out their message.

Ouch. In the immortal words of Leonard Pinth-Garnell, “”There… That wasn’t so good now, was it?””

And would it be an incorrect guess that Chris was/is already a damocrat?

When it comes to the “just tax” , the following to me is the real questions:

Does a single person say about $25,000 to $35,000 that is about 25 to 35 yrs old that is healthy, wants to enjoy his life and instead of spending his earnings on health insurance, likes to drive a sports car and go to resorts a couple times a year. Does Barrack HUSSEIN Obama have a right to make that person buy health insurance so that the premiums so the costs are “sperad around”? If you think so, you have admitted you are indeed a socialist. If you think not, you have admitted you do not support the socialists health care program.

Does Barrack HUSSEIN Obama have a right to take my tax dollars and provide abortion to others, when I believe murder by any other name is still murder? If you say yes, you have again admitted you are a socialist. If you say no, you have admitted you do not support the socialists health care program.

    @ Jeff Day

Yes, it would be an incorrect guess to assume that I am a Democrat, I am an independent.

Also, this entry is about the video that was posted and its effectiveness as a tool to recruit young Republicans to use various aspects of new media to get their message out. I think the video fails and is not a good way to engage young Republicans. You apparently thought this thread was about health care and socialism.

Chris, I think the parody is all about the taxes that the Barrack HUSSEIN OBama wants to curse on the American Citizenry.

I think that the Health Care Agenda that Barrack HUSSEIN Obama wants to curse on the American Citizenry is all about his “spreading the wealth around” and doing it with the taxes. I think that the Cap & Trade agenda that Barrack Hussein Obama wants to curse on the American Citizenry is all about his “spreading the wealth around” and doing it with the taxes.

I think that most people that have a leanings towards the GOP find fault with the message of any damocrats at anytime and are unable to hear the actual message. I think that most people that have a leanings towards the Damocrats find fault with any message of the GOP at anytime and are unable to hear the actual message. It appeared to me, when I read your initial comment that you have tendencies to the liberal damocrats and not the conservatives. I don’t think you heard the actual message, the reception of the audience it was directed at was roundly approval. The message was not meant for general populace, and is it an accident that one of the most liberal damocrat leaning agenda networks put it out? And I would still guess you voted for Barrack HUSSEIN Obama. And I would guess you can determine without flaw my political leanings.

Can someone tell me, does the government have a “moral right” to tax someone and thru the tax system help control and dictate their lifestyles choices? Already there are areas in the country that the damocrats want additional taxes on soft drinks and snacks which could help cause obesity.

    @ Jeff Day,

I know what the video is about, my point is simply that this discussion (and my original comment) was not about the content of the video, rather that the video may not be the best example that the Republicans should use to try and recruit youth to find fun and “cool” ways to use new media.

    You stated the following:

The message was not meant for general populace, and is it an accident that one of the most liberal damocrat leaning agenda networks put it out?

If the message was not meant for the general populace then why on earth would the person who created this video upload it to YouTube? I also don’t understand your comment that “most liberal damocrat leaning agenda networks put it out”.
