Tax Trivia: Extensions

Kelly Phillips ErbJanuary 21, 2011

We have a winner! See the correct answer in the comments.

Our final tax trivia question for the giveaway is:

If you can’t file your tax return on time, you can request a six month extension using a federal form 4868. If you are outside of the country, you can request an additional (discretionary) extension of time to file: how much extra time (on top of the six months) can you request?

The first correct answer wins free CompleteTax online tax prep software.

Remember that you have to comment on the actual post, not on email, Twitter or Facebook, in order to win (though feel free to comment that way for fun). You can read the rules for the giveaway and more about the prizes here.

Thanks to CompleteTax for supplying the prizes. If you didn’t win and you want another stab at it, be sure to check out the taxgirl Facebook page – we’re giving away five more software packages there!

What’s your guess?

    Sorry i can read…really…I can… 🙂

In addition to this 6-month extension, taxpayers who are out of the countrycan request a discretionary 2-month additional extension of time to file their returns (to December 15 for calendar year taxpayers).
