If I had to guess, my husband voted for the maids a-milking and not for the reasons that you think… We go through a half gallon of milk per day at my house.
But the nine ladies dancing? That has me curious!
Five gold rings, baby! The price of gold, even though it’s “correcting” a little right now, is on the way up. Sell them off, one by one.
Thought I might look at this a little more intently, to be sure I pick the right choice, because there’s nothing worse than getting what you asked for, and then it not being what you really want.
Here goes:
I’m allergic to cats, dogs, and probably birds too, so the partridge, the hens, the turtle doves, the calling birds, the geese and the swans were quickly removed from my potential winners.
I like silver rings, not gold, and I have no desire to stand in line to exchange those in an after Christmas sale, so I couldn’t vote for the five gold rings.
I moved to the drummers and the pipers, and I realized that would give me a really big headache, so they’re out.
8 maids-a-milking: I need to keep the local economy going here in Wisconsin, so I too chose the eight maids-a-milking, to help keep the local unemployment rate down. Most milk maids have long since, but with good training, and $15 an hour and a 20% discount at the local Macys, they’d come off the unemployment line fast and do this.
And though I thought nine ladies dancing would be fun, I don’t have the room for them to dance at. If you could instead send 2 or 3 really good dancers, I might be persuaded to change my vote.
There you go. More than you ever wanted to know about my 12 days of Christmas. I prefer cash, but milking maids could work in a pinch.
Whilst the gold may be more practical in the long run, I’m going to go with the lords a leaping as you never know, one of them may be eligible 😉 It is Christmas after alll!
Do they still have milk maids in Wisconsin?
Hard to say Kelly, but with the housing market going belly up, I think folks might be more inclined than you’d think to be milk maids.
Or maybe that’s what they call waitresses at family friendly restaurants these days? 🙂
Rachel, across the pond, you can probably find lords leaping for less than here in the US…
