It’s Fix the Tax Code Friday!
We know what Joe the Plumber thinks about the economic plans as proposed by the candidates… But what do you think? Here’s your last chance before the elections to state your case for economic change. Today’s Fix the Tax Code Friday question is:
If you could ask either candidate a question or state a concern about that candidate’s proposed economic plan, what would you say?
Psst, don’t forget to say which candidate you’d ask!
I would ask McCain why he thinks taxing people for insurance is a good idea.
When the government takes my money and says here are some free services, I just want to cringe. Everyone knows that government workers don’t do it for free. When you tax away money you tax away choices.
What can the “pro-choice” party do to restore lost financial liberty?
Republicans tax cuts have taken an ever larger number of dollars away from Americans and the government has over expanded to, not just consume the extra dollars but hundreds of billions more. How does this result expand freedom in the United States? It smacks of the abuses listed in the Declaration of Independence!
Sheila,
How about first asking why insurance provided by an employer isn’t taxable income the employee? What McCain’s plan does there is remove the bias in the tax code toward employer provided coverage and puts individuals on more even footing. This is a good thing.
I would ask both candidated how, long term, they expect the US to be able to make good on it’s long term obligations (primarily the growing entitlement programs) without very substantial tax increases or spending cuts, and more importantly, what changes would they make today to lessen that blow.
I’d also ask Obama to pull his head ouf of his Biden and get off his redistribution plan.
I would ask Obama where he expects to get the money to pay for his plan when he plans to reduce taxes. At least McCain is up front.
Do CEOs work 450 times harder than average working americans?? Whenever 1-2% of the country’s citizens have greater than 60% of the nations wealth there is a problem and redistribution by several means is necessary. Taxes is just one small part of those means. It’s not about socialism- its about being more responsible and accountable. Executives have figured out that if you keep shareholders in the dark, keep patting yourself on the back with new perks/raises and send out a mere proxy ballots for keeping their own job (no alternative canidates). You see their is no fluidity in how people choose who leads their corporations, unions, banks, etc. If there was, nobody in their right mind would allow the greed to ensue as it has. Obama gets this. McCain where is your plan to change this?
I’d pay tax on my employer-provided health insurance, BUT only if I can have employee + 1 coverage. My last employer only gave two choices: employee or family (which cost about 4 times as much as employee alone). I’m fed up with subsidizing coverage for other people’s kids (sorry, Kelly — I’m just sayin’ it ain’t fair!)….
