Rapper Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges. The plea follows Method Man’s October arrest on felony charges of evading New York personal income tax.
Method Man, whose real name is Clifford Smith, was accused of failing to pay income and personal taxes to the state of New York State for the years 2004-2007. The amount at issue was $32,799.
This wasn’t Method Man’s first run in with the taxing authorities. His Lincoln Navigator was previously seized by the taxing authorities to satisfy his outstanding obligations. At the time, Method Man said that he could have afforded to pay the amount due but he forgot to pay because he was high.
Under the plea, Method Man was sentenced to a conditional discharge. The arrest will be forgotten if he stays out of trouble. *Cough, cough.*
HA
He once rapped “I’m not a gentle man, I’m the Method Man.” Apparently, he’s not a businessman either, although like some rappers, he may claim to be a Business, Man.
