We have a winner! See the correct answer in the comments.
Our next tax trivia question for the giveaway is:
The National Taxpayer Advocate report to Congress cited tax complexity as one of the most serious problems facing individual taxpayers. The study found that 60% of taxpayers paid preparers to do their returns for them and another 29% used software packages. As a result, the IRS estimated that the cost to comply with tax filing laws for the median individual taxpayer hit what number in 2007?
The first correct answer wins free free CompleteTax online tax prep software.
Remember that you have to comment on the actual post, not on email, Twitter or Facebook, in order to win (though feel free to comment that way for fun). You can read the rules for the giveaway and more about the prizes here.
What’s your guess?
$6.1B, if I recall aright.
Altogether grist for the tax prep and planning community.
$200 per individual
$258
$258
I am glad that a report showing ambiguities regarding tax payment has come. We end up spending extra on software’s and preparers because of the same.
Brittany is our winner!
What’s even funnier is that I tried out several different online tax preparation web sites and TurboTax 2009 with some adjustments for tax breaks that no longer exist using my 2010 income and deductions.
I got six completely different results. One said I owed nothing based on my withholding. The others said I owed an additional $600-2,300.
Congratulations Brittany!
Why shall a taxpayer be responsible for a law-question that the government themselves dont understand!
