“Big Brother” Watches “Big Brother”

Kelly Phillips ErbJanuary 22, 2011May 19, 2020

I have to wonder what those casting folks at CBS’ reality shows are looking for… A basic knowledge of tax laws clearly isn’t one of the criteria.

Now that Richard Hatch is out of jail for tax evasion, the “former winning cast member of a CBS show now in jail for tax evasion” role goes to “Big Brother” winner Adam Jasinski. Runner up in the category is Matt McDonald, Jasinski’s ally on “Big Brother” who was also indicted with Jasinski, albeit only on drug-related charges.

On Friday, Jasinski was sentenced to four years in federal prison for drug trafficking and tax evasion. Jasinski pleaded guilty to possession of oxycodone with attempt to distribute (that’s the drug trafficking charge) and failure to file a tax return for 2008 (that’s the being stupid charge: 2008 is the year he won “Big Brother”) last year. He’s been in police custody since.

Jasinski pleaded for mercy, claiming that he’d get his life together if he received another chance. Apparently, he had forgotten about his last “last chance” – a drug conviction in New York. As a result, Jasinski got close to the recommended sentence by the prosecution; he’ll do four and a half years in prison. He could have received up to fifteen years in prison for the charges.

Fifteen year is a big time, He should be grateful that it is only 4.5 years for now. This should be minimum sentence without any mercy in such serious cases.
