Rebates To Be Mailed On Or About May 2

Kelly Phillips ErbFebruary 24, 2008

The IRS has announced that they will begin mailing rebate checks on or about May 2.

The IRS has not yet announced the order of mailing: this will be announced next week. Speculation is that it will rely on Social Security numbers, as before.

I’ve received a bunch of questions about extensions. The quick answer is that filing an extension will delay the mailing of your check. Checks will be based on the 2007 federal income tax return filing status, income and number of dependents (though rumor has it that you may be able to make adjustments on your 2008 return). You must file a federal income tax return even if you do not owe in order to receive a rebate check.

For more information about eligibility for rebate checks, see my prior post here.

everybody should be treated fairly when it comes to receiving a rebate check there should not be favortision some people are getting 300.00 some 600.00 it should not matter what taxes people getin there income taxes it should be fair all the way around

People who are disabled and could have never worked but are leagally born here should also get rebates, its not there fault is they are disabled and cannot work, it should be fair for everyone, everybody forgets about the disabled regardless their age. This is unfair.

    Hi, Kelly,

If we e-filed this year, but did not get a refund for 2007, but e-filed last year (2006) and had our refund direct deposited, will we get our rebate check via direct deposit or in a check.
