Tax Trivia: Deportation & Social Security

Kelly Phillips ErbMarch 11, 2009May 16, 2020

We have a winner! See comments!

Our next tax trivia question is:

In the mid-50s, Congress passed a law stating that Social Security benefits were not “rights” and could be taken away for a number of reasons, including deportation. Shortly thereafter, a resident alien who paid taxes into the Social Security system was eventually denied benefits because he was deported. He sued and the law was upheld. Why was he deported? (Bonus points if you can name him.)

Don’t forget: the first correct answer wins free CCH tax prep software.

What’s your guess?

You don’t have to post my comment since I’ve already won once but is the correct answer Nestor for being communist?

Travis was the winner but he’s already won this season. He’s graciously allowed EllAnn (who was also correct) to take the prize. Thanks!
