Back To School Giveaway #8

Kelly Phillips ErbSeptember 11, 2009May 18, 2020

UPDATED: We have our winners! Congratulations to Bobby, Bob, Dee, and My Journey! I will be in touch!

You can win one of four unlimited one-year subscriptions to the online backup service Mozy.

Many students will be getting new computers and laptops for the school year and come September those hard drives are going to be filling up with homework assignments, research, photos of new friends, the latest music, etc. Online backup services help to avoid that frightening “Oh no!” moment where the blue screen of death shows up right before an important homework assignment, term paper, or project is due. By automatically backing up computer files safely to an offsite location, school work is protected and accessible in the event of a hardware failure, the accidental spilling of water/coffee/Redbull onto the core components, computer theft, etc.

A year of Mozy retails for $59.40 ($4.95 per month).

To qualify for the giveaway, just answer this question in the comments below:

What was your most creative excuse for not having an assignment?

You have until 10 a.m. EST tomorrow. I’ll randomly choose THREE winners from all of the qualifying comments. For a complete look at the giveaway rules, check out this prior post.

Probably “I didn’t really think you (the teacher) was serious.” Honest, I did that!

Worst case for me was blame the teacher (if you really want us to read two chapters each night, why don’t you give a quiz/discuss the reading every day?). All of us ended up having to read 20+ chapters of Dickens in a single night as a reward before the test the next day.

When I was studying for the bar I declared to facebook that my cat ate my homework and she was. Unfortunately she left just enough for me to spend the rest of my summer studying.

No longer remotely creative or believable, in 1987-88, I worked the “my computer ate it” on several teachers at a time when everybody else was turning in hand-written essays.
