Tax Cut Vote Pushed Back

Kelly Phillips ErbSeptember 27, 2010

Oh c’mon, like you didn’t see this coming a mile away… Congress has figured out that they’re pretty much damned if they do and damned if they don’t on this tax cut issue. So they’re going with the Scarlett O’Hara strategy. You know, thinking about it “tomorrow.”

Here’s the scoop: over the weekend, the Democrats acknowledged that a vote on the Bush tax cuts probably won’t happen until after the elections. They blame the GOP for employing stalling tactics. In turn, the GOP accused the Democrats of playing dirty politics. Everybody wins! Er, except for the taxpayers who still don’t have a clue what next year will look like. But in the middle of an important election year, who really cares about that?

I wish I could say that I have all kinds of inside information and analysis that would shed some light on this issue but I don’t. I think it’s exactly as black and white as it appears.

I’m not surprised. Our politicians will do anything but their jobs. This mess has been brewing for a long time. The people must hold there elected leaders accountable. I think politicians don’t respect the people. They are the ones that deserve unemployment.

I think the biggest tragedy is the lack of movement on the estate tax. Talk about a planning nightmare. Or are we grouping that in with this whole mess?
